Health Ministry

The Health Ministry Team at St. Mary’s Parish gathers every other month as a small faith community focused on care of the whole person – body, mind and spirit in a parish setting.  Our ministry follows in Jesus’ footsteps in caring for the whole person created in God’s image.

Members include parishioners Jane and Morgan Lucid, Marilyn Dueweke, Carol Thornton, Betty Hines, Anna Miceli, Margaret Norris, Vincent Seid, Dorothy Smith, and Kathy Tumason.  They have backgrounds as doctors, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, pastoral care associates, and counselors. We invite parishioners who have an interest in spirituality and health to join us the third Wednesday of the month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., every other month.  For more information about meeting dates or other questions call 354-4061 ext 121.

St. Mary’s Health Ministry Team

At our meetings we discuss books (examples include Morton Kelsey’s Healing and Christianity and Ronald Rolheiser’s The Holy Longing: The Search for a Christian Spirituality).  We discern ways in which we can be of service to the parish as a resource for whole person health. 

The main activities we sponsor are:

The parish’s annual Flu Shot Clinic in the Fall.

The Red Cross Blood Drive the first Tuesday of every other month from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Hofmann Center.

Other activities have included workshops on the ethical concerns about end-of-life issues and grief-during-the-holiday retreats and workshops.
