St. Mary's Pastoral Council
Marjorie Alfs and her husband George have been St. Mary's parishioners since 1991. Marjorie is an administrator at Stanford University's School of Engineering and George works at Intel in press relations. They have 2 children - Susan is a senior at Carnegie Mellon University and Billy will attend Santa Clara University this fall. Marjorie was a catechist for many years - starting at Play Ways and ending with the WAV High School group - and George is often seen playing bass guitar at the Sunday 6 p.m. mass. Tom Burgei has been a parishioner at Mary’s from 1970-1982 and again from 2001-2009. Tom and his wife, Nancy, moved to California in 1970 following graduation from Indiana University. Nancy taught in the Los Gatos Elementary School District (Blossom Hill School) while Tom was a teacher and school administrator with Oak Grove School District for 36 years. They both retired in 2006 and Tom continues to consult in Oak Grove as a new administrator coach. Nancy and Tom spend time volunteering and traveling. They have two grown daughters who are both married (Sarah and Craig Ferreira and Rachel and Darren Stagnaro). This is Tom’s first year on Parish Council. He is also a Eucharistic Minister and active with St. Vincent de Paul.
Patty Denevi has been a member of SMC since 1992. My husband Mike and I have been active in both the Parish and School. I worked as Junior High and High school Youth Minister for ten years for St. Mary's parish. I have 3 children. My oldest Tim is married and has my beautiful Grandson in Iowa City, Iowa. My daughter Kate just married and lives in Chicago. My youngest ,Mikey is in college at U of O. We are empty- nesters with our two dogs, Gump and Bailey. Life is good!
return to top return to top return to topHeidi Grassman lives in Saratoga with her husband James, and her two sons, Ben (age 10) and Nick (age 8). They have been members of St. Mary’s Parish for the past 5 years and both boys attend St. Mary’s School. Heidi recently graduated from the Institute for Leadership in Ministry, with an emphasis in Liturgy and works as a Teacher’s Aide in the Kindergarten classroom at St. Mary’s School. Heidi grew up in Arizona and attended Santa Clara University. This is her first year on the Pastoral Council.

George has been on the St. Mary's School Board, ran the live auction for three years and coached both football and basketball teams. His lovely wife, Jill, was PTG President and chaired the Country Faire and the spring auction events. Both of their children went to St Mary's elementary school. Their daughter Kristin graduated from St. Francis High School and now attends Sonoma State University. Their son Max graduated from Bellarmine College Prep and now attends the University of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. George and Jill are now empty nesters! return to topHeather Quint has been a parishioner since 1998. In addition to her involvement in the Parish Council, she is currently a catechist and Eucharistic Minister to the Sick. Heather was also previously a member of St. Mary’s Peace & Justice Council and the board of St. Vincent de Paul of Santa Clara County. return to topLaurie Roe Laurie Roe joined the St. Mary’s community in 1989 with her husband Truman upon the baptism of their first daughter. Laurie served for five years as St. Mary’s School Religion Coordinator and as Liturgy Coordinator for the Sisters of the Holy Names in Los Gatos for nearly 4 years. Currently Laurie is employed with J. Crew Corp as a Personal Shopper in the Los Gatos store. Laurie is married to Truman Roe, who owns and manages two small businesses. Together they have three daughters, Jenna, Ashley and Haley Roe. Jenna and Ashley are alumni of St. Mary’s School, Presentation High School and are in college at Indiana University and UC Berkeley. Haley is also a graduate of St. Mary’s and now attends St. Francis High School. Laurie is currently in her third year serving on the council and has served on the core committee for the formation of the Liturgy, has served as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick in our local community, has served six years as an elementary school catechist and is and is a graduate of the San Jose Diocese Institute for Leadership in Ministry, where her focus was Catechetical Ministry.
return to topTom Thimot lives with his wife Martina and daughters Michaela (4), Mikalena (3) and Mariella (1) on Johnson Avenue in Los Gatos. Raised in New England and educated by the Jesuits at Marquette University, Tom brings a wide variety of personal and professional experience to Parish Council. A software career led to travels around the globe. Sales throughout the Middle East and running an Israeli software company fueled his fascination with the world's religions though his dedication to Catholicism solidified on Franciscan led pilgrimages throughout the Holy Land. For hobbies, Tom and his family enjoy the beach in Santa Cruz and skiing in Lake Tahoe. Tom's professional life has him commuting to San Francisco where he is the President and CEO of venture backed CaseCentral, a cloud computing solution for corporate attorneys. Tom has also served as CEO of GoRemote, a NASDAQ public company; and a long tenure at Oracle as a VP of Sales.
