How Does An Adult Become a Catholic?

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) at St. Mary's is a year-round process for non-Catholics who wish to join the Catholic faith community. Initiation into the Catholic Church involves several months of preparation culminating in the Sacraments of Initiation--Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. Previously baptized Christians from other faith communities are also welcome to join the RCIA process.

Currently, a new RCIA group is meeting on Tuesday evenings and learning about the Mass and the Catholic forms of worship. Members of the new RCIA group will need sponsors to introduce them to our parish community and share their own faith with these inquirers. Any fully initiated Catholic can serve as an RCIA sponsor.

To learn more about joining the RCIA or to volunteer to be a sponsor, please contact Rose Anna HIgashi, Director of Adult Education and the RCIA, at 354-4061, ext 135 or rhigashi@maryslg.org.

INQUIRY INTO CATHOLICISM
Alternating Tuesdays Year-Round
Conference Room

Non-Catholics who would like to learn more about Catholicism are invited to attend our Inquiry sessions. Facilitated by volunteer parishioners Marcia Green and Dick Volpe, this friendly and welcoming group provides the
opportunity for inquirers to ask questions about the Catholic faith tradition. The Inquiry is also the first step in the RCIA process, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, which prepares adults to receive the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church. A new RCIA group will be forming soon. For more information about Inquiry into Catholicism and the RCIA, contact Rose Anna Higashi, Director of Adult
Education and the RCIA. at rhigashi@stmaryslg.org or (408) 354-4061, ext 135.

YOUNG ADULTS AT ST. MARY'S

St. Mary's has an active group of young adults who meet regularly for faith sharing and fun. Any young adult (approximately ages 18-40, single or married) is welcome to participate.

SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB AT ST. MARY'S:
St. Mary's Spirituality Council sponsors book club discussions several times per year. The books are selected on the basis of their spiritual nature. Please send email to rhigashi@stmaryslg.org or loreen@huddlestoncpa.com if you would like to be contacted for the next book club discussion.
